Peak bloom at Whidwood is late April through late June, but you’ll find something of interest nearly all year long. With plenty of paths to explore and patios to relax on, you’ll find your perfect spot to read, play lawn games, picnic, bask in the sun, take a nap or watch the birds.

Before we decided to create a garden retreat, Chris planned to open a used bookstore. After collecting books for many years, the inventory intended for the bookstore became the library for Whidwood on Whidbey Island.

The library includes quite a bit of literary fiction, both novels & short story collections. There are also some classics, as well as memoirs; plus garden, architecture and interior-design books.

We often sit down with our guests to share wine, and to chat about our favorite books. Occasionally, a guest leaves us a book to add to the collection, and sometimes we share an extra copy of a favorite with them.
